I need to know who I am
and what I'm going to do while I'm on earth
I need to understand
everything and everybody's lives
I need to get up tomorrow
I have to mail that letter and pay that bill
deadlines, deadlines, deadlines
write that essay, and pray on the windowsill
lines, lines jump from line to line
just one, do one at a time
this one's all about mine mine mine
solve one try then keep on trying
i'm sculpting my philosophy
in patterns going 1,2,3
I'm trying your monogamy
in increments of 1 through 3
I need to eat I'm hungry
I'll grab a bight of a BLT
That’s all I want right now…
With some juice, no… coffee.
I need a girlfriend, I’m lonely
Someone to love me and fuck me
I need to get laid immediately
But also someone to fulfill my needs
I need success to be wealthy
I’m hanging on to my simplicity
I need a nice car and nice clothes
Fatter lips and a smaller nose
I need to learn I need to grow
I want to know. No no no no no no no no
I need nice hair… no women
Nice hair, then women. Until then…
lines, lines jump from line to line
just one, do one at a time
this one's all about mine mine mine
solve one try then keep on trying
I'm sculpting my philosophy
in patterns going 1,2,3
I'm trying post modernity
in increments of 1 through 3
When I sail back home to you
I know exactly just what to do
And when I take these winds to home
I know I won't be alone
When I hang my trousers dry
I know it won't just be you and I
Cuz there'll be ma & pa and grandmama and all the children I have fathered
You know I have, I have a knack
For anything that uses my back
and I will work, will work these fields
Cuz it's the only thing that's real
And when I raise, raise my hands up high
I know it won't just be you and I
Cuz there'll be sun and snow and a horse Jethro and all the children I have fathered
And I will learn to cook for you
It's one thing that I plan to learn to do
and I will make sweet dandelion wine
and there'll be no search for time
spend all our lives just having lives
and there'll be no time for any lies
there's just mares-eat-oats and no more lows and all the children I have fathered
There'll be ma and pa and grandmama and all the children I have fathered.
I remember a summer's day
I remember walking up to you
I remember my face turned red
I remember staring at my feet
I remember before we met
I remember sitting next to you
I remember pretending I wasn't looking
So try and try even if it lasts an hour
with all our might try and make it ours
cause we're on our way we're on our way
I remember your old guitar
I remember I can't explain
I remember the way it looked around your neck
and I remember the day it broke
I remember the song you sang
I remember the way you look tonight
I remember the way you made me feel
we'll try and try even if it lasts an hour
with all our might we'll try and make it ours
cause we're on our way we're on our way
to fall in love.
You'll try and try even if it lasts an hour
With all our might try and make it ours
cause we're on our way to fall in love.
yeah we're on our way to fall in love.
we're on our way to fall in love.
we're on our way to fall in love.
It’s an elusive thing
This love of which we sing
What
are we doing,
What are we doing?
And I will give
you anything,
Just please don’t stop singing,
The
world would stop spinning…
arooooouunnd
You’re
such a lovely thing
But there is ice forming
Upon your
pretty wings
What are you protecting?
And I will
give you everything,
And you can wear this ring,
But
you only love me,
you only love me when I’m leaving,
you only love me ‘cause I’m leaving,
you only love me
when I’m leaving,
you only love me ‘cause I’m leaving
tonight
you’ve such a lovely thing,
but there is
ice for me,
upon your pretty wings,
why are you lying?
And I will give you everything
Just please don’t
stop singing,
The world would stop spinning
aroooouuund
It’s an elusive thing,
This love
of which we sing,
What are we doing?
What are we doing
here?
And I will give you anything,
And you can
wear my ring,
But you only love me,
You only love me
when I’m leaving,
You only love me ‘cause I’m leaving,
You only love me ‘cause I’m leaving,
You only love me
when I’m leaving.
Beggar
Could you give me a small part of yourself
I'm only asking for the tiniest part
Just enough to get me from here to there
Could you give me something
Anything at all
I'll accept whatever it is
Could you just put your hand on my head
Could you brush against my arm
Could you just come near enough
So I could feel as though you might be able to hold me
Could you touch me with your voice
Blow your breath in my direction
Is it all right if I look straight into your face
Could I just walk behind you for a little while
Would you let me follow you at a distance
If I had anything of value I'd gladly give it to you
If there's anything of me you want just take it
But don't think I'm this way with everybody
I almost never come to this
In fact usually it's the other way around
There's lots of people
Who would love to even have a conversation with me
Who even ask me if they can walk behind me
So don't get any ideas that I'm completely alone
Because I'm not
In fact you're the one who looks like you could use a little company
Where do you get off thinking you have anything to give me anyway
I have everything I need
And what I don't have I know where to get it
Any time I want
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the afternoon
Five o'clock in the morning
In fact I'm wasting my time right now
Just talking to you
Hums
A capella, melody line only
no words
"I'm in the mood for love"
Put a face on the world, turn your back to the wall
And you walk twenty yards with your head in the air
Down the Liberty Hill, where the fashion brigade
Look with curious eyes on your raggedy way
And for once in your life you've got nothing to say
And could this be the time when somebody will come
To say, "Look at yourself, you're not much used to anyone"
Take a walk in the park, take a valium pill
Read the letter you got from the memory girl
But it takes more than this to make sense of the day
Yeah it takes more than milk to get rid of the taste
And you trusted to this, and you trusted to that
And when you saw it all come, it was waving the flag
Of the United States of Calamity, hey!
After all that you've done, boy, I know you're going to pay
In the morning you come to the ladies' salon
To get all fitted out for The Paperback Throne
But the people are living far away from the place
Where you wanted to help, your a bit of a waste
And the puzzle will last till somebody will say
"There's a lot to be done while your head is still young"
If you put down your pen, leave your worries behind
Then the moment will come, and the memory will shine
Now the trouble is over, everybody got paid
Everybody is happy, they are glad that they came
Then you go to the place where you've finally found
You can look at yourself sleep the clock around

THIN MINTS. Anyone who can hook me up with a few boxes will totally win my heart.
What's the worst pickup line you've ever heard?
Submitted by ShellEy.
I don't usually get pickup lines, but instead get assaulted on the dancefloor which is infinitely more annoying. Note to the guy dancers out there: if I choose you for a little hot sweaty stranger dancing, I'll let you know. No need to grab my ass to let me know you're interested.
